My music video does not have a clear artist, instead it has signifier which the audience can relate with to identify the artist. The artist does not physically appear in the video this is because I wanted to trigger a sense of curiosity in the audience, I want them to want to wonder who the artist really is and leave them wanting more.
A similar effect can be seen with the band "Gorillaz" they are never actually seen in their music videos, instead cartoons are shown in their place. This leaves the audience wondering who real artists are and gives them a mysterious image, which I think works well for a new artist who wants attention without seeming to "scream" at their target audience.
This again has happened with the collection of books "A series of unfortunate events" the author "Lemony Snicket" is not actually Lemony Snicket, that infact is a code name to cover the real authors identity. This "cover up" was made known to the public purposely so that it would stir them in to a frenzy, everyone wanted to know who the real author was and there were competitions, hints and clues on the authors website. This is a method of attracting fans which could be used with my artist, creating a mysterious atmosphere will lead them on to want more and more of the artist.
