Branding

The band Kiss have released a substantial amount of branding, being one of the biggest rock bands in the world they have grabbed peoples attention with their music and their unusual face paint. As a rock band they are always going to have that rebellious image, by branding on lighters they are promoting that rebellious image. This makes them seem "cool" in the eyes of their fans.
Joy Division

Joy Division have created a very popular brand, their trademark as seen on the right, has been turned in to posters, t-shirts and even shoe soles. This merchandising has meant that the band spreads awareness and boosts sales at the same time. It seems abstract but has become a faishonable accessorie. Even in recent times the bands logo is coming back in to designs as people are looking in to the past for their faishon and as people are going for the "retro" look.

Branding can be used in a different light, rather than a specific logo or picture that represents the band the artist will have a theme or colour scheme which reflects them and the image they want to portray to their audience. Katy Perry has created a very "girly girl" image, which can be described as Pop Sugar, she uses many references to sweets or "candy" this gives her a powerful image which captures her consumer. She has been quite successful as her distinctive look means that people can easily recognise.

When creating my own music video I will have to focus carefully on my own branding and how the audience will interpret the style of the video. This will mean that I will have to think carefully about characters costumes, colours in the scenes and style of imagery shown.
