Target Audience

The Best Way To Promote An Album
To successfully market an album to your target audience, in my opinion, would be to first carry out your market research, giving interviews, using focus groups and even stopping people in the street if they fit your targeted criteria. This will allow the interviewer to recieve a good amount of primary data, and by the use of open questions, qualitative data can be produced - e.g finding out peoples opinions, suggestions and expanding any ideas. Through the use of closed questions, quantative data can be produced - this means that you will gain direct feedback on any specific issues that you wanted to address. This can easily be turned in to figures and statistics for analysis.

Once you know what the target audience is looking for you can either give them exactly what they want or you can try to be innovative and still give them what they are looking for but deliver it to them in a new and exciting way. Lady Gaga has produced an image which is extremely overt but people who are looking for a fashion idol, who does something different to the majority are fasinated by her image.

The album usually has to have a name for people to associate the artists stage in their career and so that different styles can be attributed with different albums. JLS album did not have a name but this could be because they are a new band and by promoting their own name they hope to draw a mass audience.
